Code of discipline for group sitting

  • Only the old students who has finished at least one ten-day-course as taught by the tradition of S.N.Goenka can join the group sitting.​
  • It is required that all who attend the group sitting should only practise the technique of Vipassana as taught in this tradition
  • No commercial or social activites in the group sitting place;
  • Keep silence and power off the mobile phone(and alarm).
  • Find your seat but keep male/female separated in left/right; 
  • Contact with your assistant teachers if you have questions on vipassana meditation, no experience sharing or philosophy discussion between students;
  • Dress should be simple, modest, and comfortable. Tight, transparent, revealing, or otherwise striking clothing (such as shorts, short skirts, tights and leggings, sleeveless or skimpy tops should not be worn.
  • All who attend a Group Sitting must conscientiously undertake the following five precepts:

     to abstain from killing any being;

     to abstain from stealing;

     to abstain from all sexual activity;

     to abstain from telling lies;

     to abstain from all intoxicants.
